This session is being organized by Jacquelyn Allmond (UC Davis), Olafur Haraldsson (University of Washington), Arash Khosravifar (UC Davis), and Will Trono (UC Berkeley), in coordination with Heidi Faison, the PEER Outreach Director.

8:00 – 10:30am Presentation sessions at Hotel Shattuck Plaza
10:30 – 11:30am Travel by bus to Earthquake Protection Systems (EPS)
12:00 – 3:00pm Lunch at EPS and tour of facility
4:00 – 5:45pm Poster sessions at Hotel Shattuck Plaza
5:45 – 6:30pm Walking Tour of UC Berkeley Campus
6:30 – 8:00pm Networking Dinner at Barney’s Gourmet Hamburgers

Morning presentation sessions:
The morning presentation sessions include oral presentations by selected graduate student researchers participating in the YRS. Oral presentations will be given a time limit of 8 minutes plus about 2 minutes for questions. There will be a 15 minute break during the morning.
Tour of Earthquake Protection Systems, Inc. (EPS) Facilities
Earthquake Engineering Protection Systems is a San Francisco Bay Area based company specializing in seismic isolation technology. EPS will give a presentation and a tour of their manufacturing facility. The young researcher group will have the opportunity to witness real-time testing of a seismic bearing that will be used in a new building currently under construction.
Afternoon presentation sessions
Afternoon presentation sessions will include poster presentations by selected graduate student researchers participating in the YRS.
Walking Tour of UC Berkeley Campus
Tour of the UC Berkeley campus highlights as well as several campus building retrofitted structures.
Networking Dinner
The evening dinner will provide an opportunity for all graduate student participants to network in a casual setting and learn more about the research work of their fellow attendees.
