2011 PEER Annual Meeting

The 2011 PEER Annual Meeting is being hosted at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza in Berkeley from Friday September 30 – Saturday October 1, 2011. As is typical, registration for the meeting is free to all. Practicing professionals, faculty, students and others interested in earthquake engineering are encouraged to attend. Register Now!

This year’s annual meeting will focus on many of PEER’s currently funded mega-projects while also highlighting several new areas of research being explored by the Center. In a full-day plenary session on Friday, presentations will feature recent findings from PEER’s Mega-Projects including NGA West 2, Transportation Systems Research Program, Lifelines Research Program, Simulation and PBEE Tools, Concrete Grand Challenge, and the Tall Buildings Initiative, as well as spotlight opportunities for extending PEER’s performance based design and resiliency concepts in response to issues raised by recent earthquakes in Japan, New Zealand and Chile. On Saturday, various break out sessions will discuss opportunities for new research initiatives, and those participating or interested in PEER’s mega-projects will meet to discuss current progress and outline future research efforts.

Also highlighted during the meeting will be the research of a variety of graduate student researchers working on PEER funded projects, as well as the 2011 PEER Undergraduate Summer Interns. The work by these students will be the focus of a Friday evening Poster Session.
