PEER 2009 Annual Meeting

PEER has undergone many changes since our last annual meeting including a change in directorship, graduation from NSF funding, and the introduction of many new programs/projects. The PEER 2009 Annual Meeting will provide an opportunity to learn about these changes and to see how PEER has expanded and will continue to grow in the future.

Registration for the meeting is free to all. Practicing professionals, faculty, students and others interested in earthquake engineering are encouraged to attend.

In addition to the annual meeting program, all participants will also be able to to attend sessions of the 3rd International Conference on Advances in Experimental Structural Engineering. This conference is running concurrently with the PEER Annual Meeting at the same venue.

Another unique benefit of this year's meeting is its coincidence with the Loma Prieta Earthquake Commemorative Symposium. This is a special one day event is being held on the 20th anniversary of the October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. The symposium will highlight lessons learned from the Loma Prieta Earthquake, accomplishments in the 20 years since the earthquake, and future initiatives that will continue to make cities safer from earthquakes. It is a forward looking event that will explore the developing trends in the United States from the perspective of all earthquake engineering disciplines and give insight into where the industry will be in twenty years. The symposium will be held the day after the PEER Annual Meeting at the same venue. It will draw many researchers, practitioners and public officials from the Bay Area and around the world. Registration for the Loma Prieta Earthquake Commemorative Symposium is free for PEER Affiliates including funded researchers, faculty and students affiliated with PEER Core Institutions and PEER Business and Industry Partners (BIP) or funding agencies.
