2011–2012 K-12 Outreach Program
The 2011-2012 K-12 outreach program at UC Berkeley was extremely successful, reaching 21 schools, 44 classrooms, and 1209 students. This program is supported jointly by the PEER Center and the nees@berkeley laboratory.
The goal of the outreach program is to engage the students and foster interest in earthquakes and engineering.
Due to the success of this program it will be continued in 2012-2013. Learn more at the 2012-2013 program page.

Students enjoy a tour through the nees@berkeley laboratory where they learn about some of the equipment used to study the effects of earthquake shaking on large structures.
Knowledgable staff engage with students from Manzanita SEED Elementary, ready to answer any questions they might have about earthquake engineering.
These are some of the towers built by student learners from the Nea Community Learning Center, ready to prove their mettle on the earthquake shaking tables!
Students from the Korematsu Discovery Academy eagerly look on as a K'Nex tower is put to the test on the earthquake simulating "shaking table."
Lazear students learn about about earthquake recording seismographs as they prepare to simulate their own mini-earthquakes!
A trio of ASCEND students jump up and down as hard as possible to create the strongest seismogram recording.
