On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Haiti caused extreme destruction to Haiti's infrastructure, economy and society. Eduardo Fierro, president of BFP Engineers, Inc. based in Berkeley CA, has just returned from a week of post-earthquake reconnaissance work investigating the damage in Haiti that was partially funded by PEER.

As the first earthquake engineer from the United States to do earthquake reconnaissance in Haiti, he will be presenting, for the first time, his personal account of the earthquake including photos and video that have never been seen. He will also share new information about the current situation in Haiti and will highlight the damage caused to the built environment from an engineering perspective.
