Task 2: Tsunami Hazards

Performance based methods are inherently dependent on a probabilistic analysis of the hazard that provides Tsunami Intensity Measure (IM): see the flow chart of PBTE. Some methods are developed for performing a PTHA (Probabilistic Tsunami Hazard Assessment). The purpose of this task is to carry out the analysis for physical and simulation-driven tsunami uncertainties. Available numerical tsunami models are quantitatively studied in terms of their accuracy and model-to-model variability of tsunami overland flow and velocity predictions. A measure of confidence in modeling is required prior to more detailed analysis of uncertainties related to onshore physical processes.
