PEER will host OpenSees Days 2016 on May 19-20, 2016, Thursday and Friday, at the Berkeley Global Campus at Richmond Bay (formerly known as the Richmond Field Station), an off-campus facility of the University of California, Berkeley. Students, researchers, and practitioners are welcome to attend either or both days, as the covered subjects will be relevant to all.

Thursday, May 19: Getting Started With OpenSees (8:30am – 5pm)
The first day of the workshop will be a hands-on session focusing on the fundamentals of using OpenSees. Basic modeling and analysis techniques will be presented.

Friday, May 20: OpenSees: Beyond the Basics (8:30am – 5pm)
The second day will feature presentations by expert researchers on how to model using OpenSees, including geotechnical modeling, soil-structure interaction, concrete and steel frame modeling options and capabilities, and seismic isolation and supplemental damping modeling. Presentations will be made on parallel processing capabilities, and attendees will learn how to use Amazon ci to run their simulations in the “cloud” and NHERI DesignSafe-ci to run simulations on XSEDE High Performance Computing Resources.
