The Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER), a multi-institutional research and education center with headquarters at the University of California, Berkeley, seeks a creative individual who will support the center and various innovative projects as Database Administrator. The applicant will report to the PEER’s Chief Information Officer and work with PEER’s senior management, researchers and faculty, and other communications and IT staff.
The ideal applicant will have advanced knowledge of database management systems and standards and professional experience with management of SQL database systems. Knowledge of conceptual database design, capacity planning and interface specifications is required, as is professional experience deploying secure applications on Linux operating systems using Apache and Tomcat. Proficiency in modern programming languages: Java, and/or Ruby on Rails is highly desired.
