The interns presented their posters alongside graduate students to a diverse group of over 400 attendees including earth scientists, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, risk modelers, emergency managers, policy makers, and public officials attending the symposium that commemorated the twentieth anniversary of the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
Due to the importance of this historic earthquake, this symposium took the place of the 2013 PEER Annual Meeting. With nearly 600 attendees, the symposium provided the 2013 interns unique exposure to a vast array of earthquake topics and allowed them to engage with a wider cross-section of earthquake mitigators from across the state of California than typically possible at PEER Annual Meetings.
