NGA-East Special Session at SMiRT-22: One-Day Registration now open!

SMiRT 22 Conference LogoThe 22nd International Conference on Structural Mechanics in Reactor Technology (SMiRT-22) will be held on August 18 – 23, 2013 in San Francisco. As a part of the program, SMiRT-22 will hold a Special Session on New Developments for Ground Motion Prediction for Stable Continental Regions on Friday, August 23, 2013, which will highlight PEER's NGA-East Program (Next Generation Attenuation Relationships for Central and Eastern North America).

This one-day special session is focused on the recent developments for ground motions in stable continental regions that draw on global seismic data for better and more up-to-date characterization of ground motion.  This seismic ground motion hazard information will have important impacts on the seismic risk analyses currently underway by many utilities for beyond design-basis events.

Due to expected interest in this special session from the broader earthquake engineering community, SMiRT-22 is offering a special one-day registration for those who only want to attend this special session.  Those with full SMiRT-22 conference registration may attend the NGA-East Special Session at no additional cost.

For more information about this session, including the program of speakers and registration information, visit the SMiRT-22 NGA-East Special Session web page.
