Last chance to register: USGS National Seismic Hazard Mapping Project Workshop

The United States Geological Survey’s National Seismic Hazard Mapping Project (NSHMP) is in the process of updating the seismic hazard maps during 2012-2013. As a part of this process, they will hold a public ground motion workshop on December 12-13, 2012 in the International House at University of California, Berkeley. This workshop will be hosted by the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER).

The workshop discussion will focus on published ground motion models for earthquakes within active crustal areas, stable continental regions, and subduction zones. All attendees are invited to participate during the discussion sessions. On Thursday afternoon, we welcome short presentations from interested individuals on outlined topics. You may bring a maximum of three slides to the meeting (alternatively, you can email your slides to sanazr128@yahoo.com prior to the meeting).

To download the updated agenda, visit the workshop website.

Attending the workshop is free of charge; however, advance registration is required. All parties who plan to attend in person at the Berkeley International House or remotely via the web, must register. Participants who register for remote attendance will receive the web and phone information via e-mail the week before the event. The updated deadline is FRIDAY November 30, 2012. Register now!

For the convenience of attendees, note that this two day workshop immediately follows the NGA-East Working Meeting on Simulations on December 11.

You should also consider joining the 2014 NSHMP Next-Generation Attenuation Relations Mail List to keep informed of the progress of this project.
