10th International Conference on Urban Earthquake Engineering Call for Abstracts – Abstracts due Oct 31

The 10th International Conference on Urban Earthquake Engineering will be held on March 1-2, 2013 at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Tokyo, Japan. Abstract submission is now open, and the abstract submission deadline is October 31st.

For the past 10 years, the Center for Urban Earthquake Engineering (CUEE) has hosted this conference to promote research to mitigate the seismic “mega” risk confronting vast, modern cities in earthquake regions throughout the world, and also to produce next-generation practitioners and researchers responsible for developing new strategies and practices for seismic risk reduction.

This year’s conference will feature state-of-the-art technical presentations on various topics relevant to Urban Earthquake Engineering, followed by thematic presentations in parallel sessions, on the part of scientists, engineers, researchers, and planners of divers generations, including both younger researchers as well as graduate students. A special session is designated to commemorate the second anniversary of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.

As in previous years, CUEE is supporting conference participation of young researchers, Post Doctoral Fellows and PhD students from the US. Interested parties are encouraged to submit an abstract before the October 31 deadline and apply for a 10CUEE travel grant.

Further details, including the digital procedure for submitting an abstract for this conference, can be found at the 10CUEE conference website.
