Faculty Opportunity: Tokyo Tech Sabbatical Program for Research Collaboration and Undergraduate Instruction

Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) is establishing an invitational sabbatical program to encourage overseas faculty members to spend 3-6 months in Tokyo starting in 2012 until 2015. Approximately 3 positions will be awarded per year from 2012-15. During the sabbatical, visiting faculty are encouraged to form research collaborations with a host Tokyo Tech faculty member and are requested to teach one undergraduate class that is already taught at their home university for credit as well as provide periodic advice on academic topics to Tokyo Tech’s administration and faculty.

The sabbatical program will pay for airfare, accommodations and living expenses based upon Tokyo Tech guidelines. Interdisciplinary coursework is especially welcome.

For more information about the program’s application requirements, download the Tokyo Tech Sabbatical Program flier (300 KB, PDF file) or contact tirop@jim.titech.ac.jp after Dec. 22, 2011 (please include the word “Sabbatical” in the subject line to ensure a prompt reply).
