Discovering OpenSees Seminar: “Getting Started with OpenSees” on Sept 27 & 28

The next seminar in the web-based Discovering OpenSees: Surfing the waves of OpenSees learning series will occur on September 27 & 28. The session will be broadcast twice at times that will allow users in all time zones around the world to participate.

This session is titled “Getting Started with OpenSees” and will occur on September 27 at 9:00 AM Pacific Time & September 28 at 4:30 pm Pacific Time. The 1-hour session will provide a basic introduction to OpenSees for new or beginning users. It will cover:

  • – Introduction to OpenSees
  • – Introduction to Tcl programming language
  • – Demonstration of how to download OpenSees interpreter and install Tcl
  • – Discussion of OpenSees Resources (command manual, getting started manual, examples manual, message board)
  • – Example of how to create and run a small structure
  • – Q&A with web participants
