Save the Date: Seismic Risk Mitigation Leadership Forum on May 2-3, 2011

The Seismic Risk Mitigation Leadership Forum will be held at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square, San Francisco, CA, on May 2-3, 2011.

The goal of the forum is to encourage dialogue that will help to make earthquake-exposed communities safer. It is the 6th forum in a series of Risk Leadership Forums that have been hosted by Renaissance Re Risk Sciences Foundation, Inc., Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH), Institute for Business and Home Safety, and Weather Predict Consulting, Inc. This forum, focused on seismic risk, is also co-sponsored by the PEER Center and EERI.

The organizers for the Seismic Risk Mitigation Leadership Forum will bring together eminent speakers and experts to identify and discuss mitigation best practices, public policy efforts, communication success stories, and emerging research in mitigating earthquake risks to make communities more resilient.

Panel topics will include:
• International quakes – what lessons can we learn?
• Seismic mitigation technologies
• Mitigation program success stories
• Addressing low-income population risks
• Public policy for seismic risks – are building codes enough?
• Moving people to action
• The threat of urban fire following risk
