CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Sponsored by the Transportation Research Board and Federal Highway Administration.

Hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation.

The objectives of this conference are to increase the body of knowledge and literature aimed at solving engineering and management issues unique to highway infrastructure (i.e., bridges, culverts and tunnels); and to foster direct communication on research results and innovative practices among engineers, researchers and administrators.

Papers for presentation and publication will be invited on the use of restoration, renewal and replacement practices that improve reliability, safety and sustainability. Case studies and owner’s perspectives are highly encouraged. Topics of interest include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • – Assessment of Structures - for example: Non-Destructive Evaluation; Inspection Technologies; Structural Health Monitoring; Remote Monitoring of Structures; Scour Assessment.
  • – Design Methods and Materials - for example: Innovative Repair Methods and Materials; Durable and Sustainable Designs; Innovative Materials; Advances in Foundation Design/Construction; Accelerated and/or Performance Based Design/Construction; Aesthetics and Environment.
  • – Solutions for Constrained Funding - for example: New Approaches to Enhance, Preserve and Maintain Structures; Extending Useful Life Practices; Streamlined Innovation Implementation; Economical Engineering; Asset Management; Life-cycle Cost Analysis; Design-Build.
  • – Extreme-Hazard Resilient Structures - for example: Risk/Reliability Assessments; Highway Infrastructure Security; Emergency Management Practices; Multi-hazard Design; Enhanced Post-Earthquake Serviceability; Scour Assessment and Restoration; Quality Control/Quality Assurance.

Deadlines: Abstracts (500 word maximum) will be accepted until July 1, 2009.

Authors will be notified as to an invitation to submit papers by September 1, 2009, completed papers (7,500 words max.) will be due by December 1, 2009.
