Deierlein and his team complete E-Defense testing of Self-Centering Rocking Steel Frame
PEER Researcher Professor Greg Deierlein from Stanford University and his research team have completed a shaking table test of their self centering steel frame structure on Japan's E-Defense shaking table. This new system is allowed to rock on its foundation during earthquake shaking and has shear links or "fuses" that absorb earthquake damage and are easily replaceable after an earthquake. While this test was not a PEER funded project, it's findings will be of interest to PEER researchers.
