PEER has developed a Collaborative agreement with Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan

The new collaborative agreement between PEER and Tokyo Tech is intended to foster educational exchanges of students and faculty between the two institutions that further the study and practices of earthquake engineering particularly as related to research.

As a first step in this exchange Tokyo Tech has invited eight graduate students and several professors from various PEER Institutions to attend their CUEE conference in Tokyo. Before the conference a young researcher's forum is being held for the Japanese and the US students to share their research projects and make connections with their international colleagues. Following the conference, PEER is sponsoring a visit by the students and faculty to the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention's E-Defense shaking table in Miki City, Japan that is conducting full scale testing of a steel structure with steel dampers for the Blind Analysis Competition.
