AIR-Worldwide SF Office seeks Principal Engineer for Engineering Analysis and Research

PEER's BIP Member AIR Worldwide Corporation (AIR) is a catastrophe firm that provides risk modeling software and consulting services. AIR founded the catastrophe modeling industry in 1987 and today models the risk from natural catastrophes and terrorism in more than 50 countries. More than 400 insurance, reinsurance, financial, corporate and government clients rely on AIR software and services for catastrophe risk management, insurance-linked securities, site-specific wind and seismic engineering analyses, agricultural risk management, and property replacement cost valuation. AIR is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO).

Their San Francisco office is seeking a new Principal Engineer/Senior Engineer for Engineering Analysis and Research. The main responsibilities for this position are developing and managing in-house portfolio risk analysis models for natural events such as earthquakes and hurricanes and participating in engineering consulting projects and on research-oriented projects. The candidate will work closely with a team of structural engineers and specialists in the application of probability and statistics to earthquake and wind engineering problems.

Main responsibilities include probabilistic hazard and risk assessment and modeling, data acquisition and development of fragility curves for structural and non-structural components for earthquake and wind loads, and structural analysis using standard analysis packages (e.g., SAP2000, RAM Perform, DRAIN2DX, OpenSEES).
