SMIP09 Seminar on Utilization of Strong-Motion Data
November 19, 2009, San Francisco
The California Geological Survey's Strong Motion Instrumentation Program (CSMIP) in the Department of Conservation will present a one-day seminar on Utilization of Strong-Motion Data. The goals of the seminar are to (1) increase the utilization of strong-motion data in improving post-earthquake response, seismic code provisions and design practices; and (2) transfer recent research findings on strong-motion data to practicing seismic design professionals and earth scientists.
The SMIP09 Seminar will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Hiram Johnson State Building in San Francisco. This year the seminar will include results from site response experiment, new schemes for estimation of engineering demand parameters from recorded building data, safety assessment of instrumented highway bridges, and observations and recorded ground motion data from the L'Aquila, Italy and other earthquakes. For more information about the seminar, please call CSMIP office at (916)322-3105.or visit the http://www.consrv.ca.gov/cgs/smip/Pages/seminar.aspx.
