The LATBSDC 2009 meeting will showcase new tall building designs and case studies which have been completed using contemporary performance based seismic design procedures. In addition, topics related to design ground motions, low-cycle fatigue, performance-based plastic design and potential collapse vulnerability of buildings will be discussed. The 2009 updates to the LATBSDC Alternative Design Criteria will be also presented. The Tall Building Initiative being coordinated by the PEER Center is spearheading many of the studies that will lead to more rational performance based earthquake engineering design procedures and an update on these efforts will be highlighted.
